I agree that the philosophical concept of dignitiy its grounded on fuzzy metaphysical foundations that prevent further biomedical research and technological prgress which might be apply to humans in order to treat neurological disease,infections, disorders and other problems that threat mankin and even to reach a new singularity รก la Kurzweil.
But when technology will be ready, how we can adapt ourselves without a new conceptual framework to the advantages, but risks too, that arise from the amassed body of knowledge of the life sciences.
We cannot repeat the past and make the same mistakes voicing to sterilize the unfit, birth control, elimination of the inferiors, eutelegenesis... because when humans with enhanced capabilites emerge there will be political, social and cultural implications at the very large.
